The community of Casper, Wyoming, is mourning the passing of Ruth Eunice Rose, who died on September 15, 2025, at the age of 84. Ruth was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and mentor, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration that touched many lives.

Born on April 24, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, Ruth was the daughter of Eldon and Marie Muir. She demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for guidance and support throughout her life. Ruth graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelor of Social Work in 1966 and earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa in 1968.

In June 1968, she married Douglas Rose, and the couple settled in Jamestown, North Dakota. Ruth was deeply involved in the Presbyterian Church, where she established a Sunday School class for children with disabilities, highlighting her commitment to inclusion and support for marginalized groups.

Ruth was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Deb and Becky, encouraging them to pursue their dreams while providing unwavering wisdom and encouragement. Her career as a social worker spanned over three decades, including a significant tenure of 15 years at the Human Services Center. In 1991, she played a pivotal role in launching the Master of Social Work program at the University of Mary in Bismarck, serving as a professor for five years.

Later, while living in Fargo, Ruth dedicated a decade to Village Family Services, where she founded the Attachment Disorders Clinic, further demonstrating her passion for helping families and children in need. Following her retirement in 2008, Ruth remained active in her community through her involvement with Olivet Lutheran Church.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Doug, of Casper, along with their daughters, Deb Lane and her husband Donnie, and Rebecca Rose. She leaves behind a legacy of love, including five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her family includes her sister, Grace, from San Diego, California, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ellen Langley and Jane Burt, as well as her parents and in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Central WY Hospice and Transitions of Casper. A memorial service honoring Ruth’s life will take place on September 27, 2025, at 10:00 at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper. The service will also be livestreamed, allowing friends and family to participate from afar.
