The Miles City Public Library (MCPL) is launching several engaging activities this January, inviting the community to explore history, art, and wildlife. The highlight of the month is the exhibit titled Anne Frank: A History for Today, which runs from January 6 to 9, 2024.

Visitors can participate in guided tours on January 6 from 16:15 to 19:00, on January 7 and 8 from 16:15 to 17:00, and on January 9 from 08:15 to 17:00. Self-guided tours will also be available, and admission is free for all. The exhibit provides a comprehensive look at Anne Frank’s life, set against the backdrop of the Holocaust and World War II. Attendees will gain insights into the Frank family’s experiences during their years in hiding, alongside the enduring legacy of Anne Frank’s diary, presented through a range of photographs and interpretive materials.

On January 13 at 17:30, the library will host an event titled Pink Eraser Art. Participants will have the opportunity to create artistic stamps by carving erasers using a lino cutter, a tool provided by MCPL. This hands-on workshop welcomes attendees of all skill levels, and as with other events, it is free to join.

Following this, on January 23 at 14:30, a presentation on Animal Tracks and Identification will be led by Jake Stevens, an Education Technician from Fish, Wildlife & Parks. This event will delve into the identification of various animal tracks, providing valuable knowledge for nature enthusiasts.

In addition to these events, the library has expanded its collection with new titles, including Crowntide, Future Boy, and How to Talk to Your Succulent. To view the full catalog, visit the library’s website at MCPL Catalog.

The Miles City Public Library is also seeking donations and suggestions for future events, books, and films. An Amazon wishlist is available on their Facebook page and website for those who wish to contribute.

In a new initiative, MCPL has introduced the Library of Things, allowing patrons to borrow household items instead of purchasing them. This service operates similarly to traditional book lending, with items available for one-week checkouts. Patrons can borrow items such as board games, roasting pans, meat thermometers, and muffin pans. Library staff are available to provide further information about this new service.

Residents are encouraged to stay connected with the library through their free email newsletters, which provide updates on the latest happenings and notifications for the e-edition. The Miles City Public Library continues to be a vibrant community hub, blending educational opportunities with creative expression.
