Join Award-Winning Author for Free Memoir Writing Workshop
Bud Werner Memorial Library is set to host a complimentary memoir writing workshop led by acclaimed author Deborah Taffa on February 23, 2024, at 18:30. The workshop, titled “Let’s Spin Some Yarns Together: How to Get Your Best Words on the Page,” aims to inspire community members to delve into the art of memoir writing with Taffa, who is recognized for her contributions to the One Book Steamboat community read.
Participants can expect an engaging session that will include an hour of interactive prompts, insightful lessons, and effective storytelling techniques. Taffa, whose memoir Whiskey Tender was a finalist for the National Book Award, has gained recognition as a top author in 2024, with her work featured in prominent publications such as Time and The Atlantic.
In her role as the director of the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Taffa brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the workshop. Her goal is to empower attendees to express their personal stories and memories through writing, creating a supportive environment for all participants.
The event is free of charge, making it accessible to anyone in the community interested in exploring the nuances of memoir writing. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring writers to learn from a seasoned professional and connect with others who share similar interests.
