North Middlesex Assistant Superintendent Receives State Leadership Award

The North Middlesex Regional School District has announced that Assistant Superintendent Dr. Gary Burboa-Reese is the recipient of the 2026 State Leadership Award from the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators (NAFEPA). This prestigious award recognizes administrators who show exceptional leadership in Title 1 programs and prioritize high-quality education for low-income children and their families.

Dr. Burboa-Reese was nominated and selected by his peers, including Title 1 leaders and administrators throughout Massachusetts. His commitment to student success and education reform has made a significant impact in the region, earning him this distinguished honor. His extensive experience in education spans over 30 years, during which he has held various positions. These include roles as a special educator, elementary assistant principal, elementary principal, Director of Curriculum, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and School Superintendent.

Commitment to Education and Community

Beyond his administrative roles, Dr. Burboa-Reese has contributed to the academic community by teaching graduate-level courses for aspiring educators and administrators. He is also actively involved in community service, participating on multiple boards dedicated to enhancing opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

In expressing his pride in Dr. Burboa-Reese’s accomplishment, Superintendent Brad Morgan stated, “I am so pleased to see Dr. Burboa-Reese recognized for both his impact on students throughout the North Middlesex Regional School District and across the state. Dr. Burboa-Reese works every day to make progress within our school district with the needs of our student body at the forefront. On behalf of the District, I would like to congratulate him on this achievement.”

Acknowledgment at National Conference

Dr. Burboa-Reese will receive his award during NAFEPA’s annual conference, scheduled for March 15 through March 18, 2026, in Washington, D.C.. This event will honor him and other Title 1 administrators from across the nation, celebrating their dedication to improving educational outcomes for disadvantaged students.
