Beloved The Villages Resident Diane Kay Knipp Passes Away at 83
Diane Kay Knipp, a cherished resident of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on July 24, 1942, in Mascoutah, Illinois, she enjoyed a fulfilling life, contributing to her community and nurturing her family.
Diane graduated from Mascoutah High School and later worked as a homemaker. She concluded her professional career at Edward Jones, where she served as a Business Office Assistant. Throughout her life, Diane was actively involved in her community, previously holding membership in The Order of the Eastern Star and attending St. John’s United Church of Christ in Mascoutah.
Family and Legacy
Diane is remembered fondly by her family, which includes her son, Van Roehrig and daughter, Debra Roehrig. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rachael Bush, Jason Roehrig, Matthew Roehrig, Alison Roehrig, and Molly Taylor. Her great-grandchildren, Bradley and Lexi Bush, along with Trey, Zion, and Indie Harris, were also an important part of her life.
Diane’s passing is marked not only by the loss felt by her family but also by the gratitude expressed for the care she received in her later years. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brightly Senior Living in Mascoutah, who provided exceptional care during her residency. In particular, they acknowledge the nurses and aides at Watercrest Buena Vista, specifically naming Taylor, Jill, Melissa, and Zion, for their compassionate support, which made her feel like part of a family.
Community Support and Final Care
In her final days, Diane was cared for by Cornerstone Hospice of The Villages, Florida. The family expresses deep appreciation for the hospice team, who ensured her comfort and dignity during this challenging time. They also highlight the visits from Lisa Graham and Gay Arnold, who provided additional support and companionship.
The family’s gratitude extends to Jeanette Surmeier, who maintained contact over the past three years, offering updates and listening to Diane’s stories, which brought joy and connection during her time in memory care.
Diane Kay Knipp leaves behind a legacy of love and community, remembered by those who knew her and those who provided care throughout her life. Her family invites all who were touched by her spirit to celebrate her life and cherish the memories they hold dear.
