Southern Regional Technical College Sees Record Enrollment in Spring 2026
Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) has reported an impressive enrollment increase for the spring 2026 semester, marking the 11th consecutive semester of growth since fall 2022. The college’s total enrollment reached 5,640, a significant rise from 5,091 in spring 2025, reflecting a robust 10.8% increase. This growth surpasses the average of 8.7% within the Technical College System of Georgia.
In addition to overall enrollment, SRTC experienced a remarkable 12% increase in Full Time Equivalent enrollment from spring 2025 to spring 2026, again exceeding the system average of 9.6%. This record-setting enrollment makes spring 2026 the largest semester for the college to date, according to a recent press release from SRTC.
Factors Contributing to Enrollment Growth
SRTC President Jim Glass attributes this success to the commitment and efforts of the faculty and staff. “Our faculty members are committed to providing the kind of high-quality education that is required in our service delivery area,” Glass stated. He emphasized the importance of supporting students throughout their educational journey, from application to graduation.
Several programs have demonstrated exceptional enrollment growth this semester, showcasing the college’s strategic partnerships and faculty engagement. Notably, the new Echocardiography program achieved an astonishing 64.5% growth, largely due to a vital partnership with Archbold Memorial Hospital. The Land, Forest, and Wildlife Management program also excelled, with 45.7% growth, thanks to strong relationships with local conservation groups and high schools.
Other notable programs include Air Conditioning Technology, which saw a 52.5% increase, Criminal Justice with a 40.5% rise, and Electrical Systems, which grew by 32.6%. These numbers reflect SRTC’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the job market.
Commitment to Workforce Readiness
SRTC’s commitment to quality education is underscored by its impressive 99% job placement rate, demonstrating its effectiveness in preparing students for successful careers. The demand for skilled trades professionals continues to rise across various industries, and SRTC is focused on equipping students with the hands-on training and technical expertise needed by employers.
The Manufacturing Engineering and Precision Machining programs, developed in collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology and supported through the Georgia AIM grant, have experienced extraordinary growth of 271.4%. This surge indicates a growing recognition among students of the importance of advanced manufacturing skills in today’s economy.
In addition to academic growth, SRTC is set to open a new Industrial Technology Building on its Moultrie campus in spring 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a hub for innovation and learning, equipped with advanced technology such as computer-aided welding equipment and automotive painting technology. This expansion aims to enhance SRTC’s ability to offer new programs that align with local business and industry needs.
The college also reported a 13.6% increase in Dual Enrollment from spring 2025 to spring 2026, serving students from more than 20 high schools in the region. Dual enrollment allows high school students to take both core and occupational courses, providing them with a head start on their college education.
SRTC offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs designed to facilitate students’ transition into their desired careers. The college provides 38 general education courses that transfer seamlessly to the University System of Georgia and to 19 private colleges and universities across the state.
