Discover the Latest K-Beauty Brands Taking Over the US Market
The popularity of Korean beauty products continues to surge in the United States, with several emerging brands gaining traction among consumers and celebrities alike. While established names like Medicube and CosRX have recently gained fame through endorsements from stars such as Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner, a new wave of brands is quickly establishing itself as a must-have in beauty routines across the country. These brands offer luxurious skincare and makeup essentials, all priced at $27 or less, making effective beauty accessible to a broader audience.
Dr. Althea: A Celebrity Favorite
One brand that has made a notable entrance into the U.S. market is Dr. Althea, which debuted in October 2023 at Ulta Beauty. The brand’s popularity skyrocketed when celebrities like Selena Gomez and rising star Ejae showcased their radiant looks at the Golden Globes, thanks to products like the 345 Relief Cream and Aqua Marine Deep Serum. These products are known for deeply hydrating the skin and preparing it for flawless makeup application.
The 345 Relief Cream specifically targets irritated skin while helping to heal post-acne marks, thanks to its formulation of firming niacinamide, Centella asiatica, and panthenol. The product is available in both cream and bi-phase spray forms, making it a convenient option for those on the go. With its vegan and fragrance-free formula, it has garnered positive reviews, including a recommendation from Erica Radol, a commerce reporter at Page Six.
Mediheal: A K-Pop Connection
Another brand gaining recognition is Mediheal, which counts K-pop sensation BTS among its past collaborators and has current ambassador Minnie from G-idle. Known for its effective yet affordable sheet masks and skincare pads, Mediheal products have made their way into major retailers like Ulta. The brand’s toner pads were even named a top pick by Olive Young, often referred to as “Korea’s Sephora.”
Mediheal’s sheet masks come in various options, including a vegan Rose PDRN version that promises hydration and a delightful light rose scent. At less than $20 for a pack of ten, they offer a cost-effective luxury that competes well in the market. Their Madecassoside Blemish pads have also become favorites for tackling breakouts and reducing dark spots.
Clio Cosmetics: Red-Carpet Ready
The red carpet has seen a surge of Clio Cosmetics products, especially during events like the Critics’ Choice Awards, where Mia Goth dazzled with the brand’s Glazing Milky Essence. Makeup artist Nina Park introduced Clio to Goth last year, and it has since become a go-to for various celebrities, including Addison Rae.
Clio’s offerings include the viral Kill Lash mascara, known for its long-lasting formula without smudging. The brand also features the Superproof Pen Liquid Eyeliner, which pairs well with its popular lip products, such as the Crystal Glam Tints infused with rose oil for a semi-sheer finish.
Tirtir: Cult-Favorite Foundations
Rounding out the list of rising K-beauty brands is Tirtir, a favorite among A-listers like Lea Michele and Cynthia Erivo. The brand boasts a diverse range of foundations, including the Red Cushion foundation, which offers full coverage and a natural satin finish. Currently, BTS’s V serves as the global ambassador for Tirtir.
The foundations come in multiple finishes, catering to various preferences, while the Waterism Glow Melting Balm is popular for hydrating lips. Customers have praised Tirtir’s setting spray, noting its ability to keep makeup fresh throughout the day. Its formulation includes Centella asiatica, which helps soothe the skin.
As the trend for affordable yet effective beauty products continues to grow, K-beauty brands like Dr. Althea, Mediheal, Clio, and Tirtir are poised to capture the attention of more consumers. With their innovative products and celebrity endorsements, these brands are set to play a significant role in shaping the beauty landscape in the coming years.
