Community Remembers Doris Elaine Barriere After Her Passing
Doris Elaine Barriere, a cherished member of the Port Arthur community, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on January 29, 1964, in Galveston, Texas, she is remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith. Doris leaves behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.
Doris was the daughter of Doris Roy Barriere and Leo Barriere Sr. She attended Lincoln High School and later became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, a role that reflected her caring nature and dedication to helping others. Throughout her life, she embraced the joys and challenges of motherhood, raising two daughters, Heather and Helena.
In her later years, Doris relocated to Austin, Texas, but returned to Port Arthur to care for her mother, whose health had declined. This act of devotion exemplified her character and the deep family ties she valued. Her family will especially miss her nurturing spirit and commitment to fostering community connections.
She is survived by her two daughters, Heather (Michael) from Texas City, Texas, and Helena from Port Arthur. Doris also leaves behind four grandchildren, four brothers—Desral (Sherry), Clifford “Al,” Jude (Tish), and Vincent (Adelice)—as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings, including sisters Yola, Veronica, and Dorothea, and brothers Larry, Leo, and Martin. The family remembers her with love and gratitude, including the fond memories shared with her nieces, Alethia and Tawana, and nephews, Lloyd and Levi.
A celebration of Doris Elaine Barriere’s life is scheduled for January 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church, located at 821 Texas Avenue in Port Arthur. The community is invited to join in honoring her memory and the impact she had on countless lives.
Doris’s legacy of kindness and compassion will not be forgotten, as those who knew her reflect on the profound influence she had in their lives. Her spirit will continue to shine through the love she shared with her family and friends.
