Spotify Enhances Music Management with New Smart Filters
Spotify has introduced a new feature called Smart Filters, aimed at enhancing the way users manage their music libraries. This addition allows users to organize their saved music by various criteria such as genre, activity, and mood. Currently, the feature is exclusively available to Premium subscribers.
With Smart Filters, users can select from a range of moods, including options like funny, rebellious, angst, relaxing, and amped. The filters adapt based on the user’s saved music, providing a personalized experience. For example, the mood options displayed may differ significantly between accounts, reflecting individual taste.
How Smart Filters Work
To utilize Smart Filters, Premium users can tap the filters button within the app, which is represented by two horizontal lines with circles on either end. After selecting a filter, the app automatically reorganizes the library to showcase songs that match the chosen mood, genre, or activity. It is important to note that songs not fitting the selected criteria will be hidden. To view the entire library again, users need to tap the “X” located at the top left of the library tab.
The rollout of Smart Filters began on October 16, 2023, in several countries, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US. This feature is part of Spotify’s ongoing efforts to improve user experience and simplify music discovery.
Additional Features and Updates
Smart Filters are just one of several updates Spotify has recently implemented. The company has also introduced a snooze feature, allowing users to temporarily hide tracks for 30 days. Additionally, users can now remove songs from playlists that they no longer wish to hear. These enhancements aim to streamline the process of finding and enjoying music.
Earlier this year, Spotify launched a new desktop mini player designed to provide a less distracting listening experience. As Spotify continues to evolve, its focus remains on creating an accessible and enjoyable platform for music lovers worldwide.
