Starting Monday, American Canyon Transit will enhance its service by offering expanded evening and Saturday hours, providing residents with greater flexibility for their transportation needs. This change aims to improve access for those requiring convenient travel options beyond standard public transport schedules.

Details of the Service Expansion

Operated by the Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA), American Canyon Transit functions as an on-demand, wheelchair-accessible shuttle service. Riders can conveniently request rides via an app or by phone, similar to services like Uber, without the constraints of fixed routes or rigid timetables.

The expansion is supported by $162,395 in funding from the California Public Utilities Commission through its TNC Access for All Program. This funding will enable the shuttle service to operate until 19:00 on weekdays, extending from the previous cut-off time of 17:30. Additionally, Saturday service will be available from 08:30 to 17:30.

Improving Accessibility and Future Plans

Libby Payan, Senior Program Planner/Administrator at NVTA, emphasized the importance of this service in catering to the community’s needs. “American Canyon Transit fills a critical gap for residents who need convenient, reliable transportation beyond traditional bus schedules,” she stated in a recent news release. “Expanded hours mean better access to jobs, errands, medical appointments, and connections to the broader Vine Transit system.”

In the Fiscal Year 2025, American Canyon Transit provided 20,967 rides, more than any other on-demand shuttle service in Napa County. The state funding will cover one year of extended service, with NVTA planning to pursue additional funding to sustain and potentially enhance these services in the future.

Riders can book trips using the Ride the Vine app or by calling 707-813-6200. Fares for the service range from $0.50 to $1.00. For further information or to learn how to schedule a ride, visit vinetransit.com/routes/americancanyon-transit/.
