David Anthony Gilles, aged 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children. His death marks the end of a life dedicated to family, service, and community. Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, California, David was a beloved figure known for his unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his profession.

Career and Achievements

David graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School before pursuing further education at community colleges in Torrance, California, and Pasco, Washington. In 1980, he married Nancy Erd, and together they moved to Richland, Washington, where they raised four children: Darlene, Wendy, David, and Heather.

His professional journey began at the Hanford Nuclear Site, where he started as a bus driver. Through hard work and determination, David ascended through various management roles, eventually retiring as the Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms. His dedication to his work was matched by his commitment to his family, who he supported tirelessly.

Legacy and Personal Life

In 2023, David and Nancy relocated to Sandpoint, Idaho, to enjoy the home they built together. Those who knew him described David as a patient teacher and a steadfast provider. His reserved demeanor often concealed a quick wit and a clever sense of humor, revealing a man who cherished his relationships.

“If he was busting your chops, chances were he liked you,” his family shared, reflecting the warmth he brought to those around him.

David is survived by his wife, Nancy, their four children, eleven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, William Gilles, and sister-in-law, Roni. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Carol Gilles.
