Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS Shows Signs of Possible Alien Craft

The interstellar object known as 3I/ATLAS has displayed unusual characteristics, leading some scientists to speculate about its origins. Recorded by NASA this week, the object exhibited non-gravitational acceleration and appeared significantly “bluer than the Sun” as it approached our solar system. According to Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, these traits could indicate a possible artificial craft, potentially equipped with a propulsion system.

The acceleration observed in 3I/ATLAS suggests a dramatic outgassing event typical of comets. This phenomenon could result in the object losing up to half of its mass, leading to a substantial plume of debris in the coming months. In a recent Medium post, Loeb commented on the implications of this behavior. He noted that the “bluer” appearance might signify an internal engine or a hot source of artificial light, although he acknowledged that it could also represent a natural cometary signature.

Observations and Predictions

Earth-based telescopes were unable to capture direct measurements of 3I/ATLAS when it was 172 million miles from the Sun, as our planet was on the opposite side of the star. Nevertheless, several spacecraft orbiting the Sun managed to gather data, indicating a “rapid brightening” of the object. The US Naval Research Lab reported that 3I/ATLAS appeared “distinctly bluer than the Sun,” a surprising shift from previous observations where the object was noted to be red, then green.

The object is projected to make its closest approach to Earth on December 19, 2023, at a distance of approximately 167 million miles. This encounter will provide researchers with an optimal opportunity to analyze whether 3I/ATLAS is indeed a comet or an artificially constructed entity. Loeb stated, “If we do not observe a massive cloud of gas around 3I/ATLAS in December, it could be an indicator of a propulsion system.”

NASA’s Response

In light of the speculation surrounding 3I/ATLAS, NASA‘s Acting Administrator, Sean Duffy, sought to alleviate public concern. He emphasized that the object represents the third interstellar comet to traverse our solar system, asserting, “No aliens. No threat to life here on Earth.” Duffy made these remarks in a post on the social media platform X, responding to inquiries from the public, including reality television personality Kim Kardashian.

Loeb expressed frustration over NASA’s lack of transparency, particularly regarding the release of images captured by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter during its close pass to Mars in early October. Reports indicate that these anticipated images will not be made public until the government reopens.

As the scientific community continues to analyze the data surrounding 3I/ATLAS, the upcoming December encounter is poised to be critical in determining the nature of this enigmatic object.
