Rabbi Leads Global Chabad on Campus Conference in Wisconsin
Rabbi Avraham Kahn from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) recently spearheaded the annual Chabad on Campus conference, bringing together leaders from around the world to discuss innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing Jewish student engagement. The event, held in Milwaukee from March 10 to March 12, 2024, attracted over 300 participants, representing various campuses across North America, Europe, and beyond.
The conference served as a platform for dialogue on pressing topics in Jewish education and community building. Attendees participated in workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions, all designed to foster collaboration among Chabad centers. Each session focused on practical strategies for supporting Jewish students, ensuring they feel connected to their heritage while navigating university life.
One of the highlights of the conference was a keynote address by Rabbi Yosef Kahan, an influential figure in the Chabad movement. He emphasized the importance of creating inclusive environments for Jewish students and the need for tailored programming that resonates with diverse backgrounds. “Our goal is to empower students to embrace their identity and contribute positively to campus life,” Rabbi Kahan stated.
In addition to the keynote, the conference featured various breakout sessions addressing topics such as mental health, social justice, and leadership development among Jewish youth. Participants shared their experiences and best practices, fostering a rich exchange of ideas. Rabbi Kahn expressed his optimism about the outcomes of these discussions. “We are witnessing a growing commitment to building vibrant Jewish communities on campuses,” he said.
The event also focused on expanding Chabad’s global network. With campuses increasingly becoming melting pots of cultures and ideas, representatives discussed how Chabad on Campus can adapt to meet the changing needs of students. Engaging with local communities, hosting inclusive events, and offering mentorship programs were among the strategies highlighted.
The conference concluded with a call to action for attendees to implement the ideas discussed in their respective campuses. Rabbi Kahn encouraged participants to return home with a renewed sense of purpose. “Every campus is unique, but the mission remains the same: to inspire and uplift Jewish students,” he remarked.
Through events like this, Chabad on Campus continues to play a vital role in shaping the Jewish experience for students worldwide. As universities become increasingly diverse, the commitment to fostering Jewish identity and community remains crucial. The recent conference exemplified the dedication of Chabad leaders to ensure that Jewish students feel welcomed and supported throughout their educational journeys.
