Nursing Educator Theresa Grabo Remembered for Compassion and Dedication
Theresa Nancy Stuccio Grabo, a distinguished nurse educator and cherished family member, passed away on October 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication to the healthcare profession. Her commitment to nursing and education profoundly impacted countless individuals throughout her career and personal life.
A Life Committed to Nursing and Education
Born into a family that valued service and faith, Theresa devoted her career to caring for others. She graduated from the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing and later earned her Ph.D. in nursing education from the University of Pennsylvania. Her career culminated at Binghamton University’s Decker School of Nursing, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. As a beloved professor, Theresa influenced generations of nurses, teaching them the importance of empathy and patient care.
Beyond her academic achievements, Theresa was known for her holistic approach to nursing, which she practiced in her private care. She not only educated nurses on technical skills but also emphasized the significance of compassion and understanding in healthcare.
Family and Legacy
Throughout her life, Theresa remained deeply committed to her family. She shared 54 years of marriage with her husband, Daniel Grabo, whom she adored. Together, they raised two sons, Daniel Grabo, Jr. (Janet Grabo) and Michael Grabo (Michael Cameron). Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, as she showered her three grandchildren, Daniel III, Anthony, and Camilla, with love and wisdom.
Theresa’s home in Pittston, Pennsylvania, was a sanctuary characterized by laughter, warmth, and cherished Italian traditions. Her strong Catholic faith guided her family life, creating a nurturing environment that will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Marie Andrush (George), her brother, Fred Stuccio (Arlene), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Serafino Stuccio.
The family expresses deep appreciation to Allied Services Hospice and all caregivers who provided compassionate care in her final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 6, 2025, at 14:00 at St. Joseph Marello Roman Catholic Parish, located at 237 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640.
