Jim Scripture Remembered for His Kindness and Family Devotion

On October 2, 2025, Jim Scripture passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, having dedicated his life to his family and community. Born on August 17, 1947, in Rochester, Minnesota, Jim was the son of Willard and Donna Scripture. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1965 and went on to lead a life filled with cherished moments and joyful pursuits.

Jim married his beloved wife, Lois “Jean” Yennie, on January 31, 1970. The couple shared a deep bond that lasted throughout their lives together. Known for his gentle and loving nature, Jim enjoyed various hobbies, including playing cards, gardening, and woodworking. He found joy in long drives through nature, often accompanied by his family.

Jim was a devoted father to his two children, David (Teresa) Scripture and Anne (Ryan) Daly. He also took great pride in being a grandfather to Michael, Joseph, Joshua, and Rebekah Scripture, as well as Natalie and Alayna Daly. His family was his greatest treasure, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Service and Memorial Details

Jim is survived by his sister, Linda (Richard) Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lois Jean, who he will now be reunited with. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Pine Island Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Jim’s life and share their memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, a cause close to their hearts. The family expresses gratitude to the caregivers from Moments Hospice for their compassionate care during Jim’s final days.

Arrangements for the service have been entrusted to Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel in Pine Island. Jim Scripture’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who remember him fondly for his unwavering kindness and dedication.
