Fargo Salvation Army Launches Thanksgiving Food Box Program

Families in Fargo, North Dakota, can now sign up to receive Thanksgiving food boxes from The Salvation Army, starting from September 30, 2023. This initiative is part of the organization’s annual tradition aimed at supporting families in need during the holiday season.

According to Maj. Abe Tamayo, the need for assistance is expected to rise this year due to ongoing inflation and economic challenges. Last year, The Salvation Army served 671 families, and Tamayo anticipates that the numbers will increase as more families seek help.

Food boxes will be distributed on November 21, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in south Fargo. The program aims to ensure that families can gather for a celebratory meal during Thanksgiving, a time that is significant for many.

“It’s very important for families to have a Thanksgiving meal together,” Tamayo emphasized. He noted that for some families, this may be the only opportunity to enjoy a full dinner together, fostering a sense of togetherness and appreciation during the holiday.
