A resident of Fargo, Paul Mohror, has officially declared his candidacy for one of the five available positions on the Fargo Public Schools Board of Education. Mohror announced on February 23 that he has completed the necessary paperwork to run in the upcoming election scheduled for June 9, 2024. According to a spokesperson from the district, he is the first candidate to come forward for this election cycle.

If elected, Mohror aims to work closely with the new superintendent to enhance academic proficiency while ensuring the district maintains fiscal responsibility. “I’m running for school board to help ensure thoughtful decision-making, transparency, understanding, and a strong focus on student success,” he stated in a news release. His commitment highlights the importance of strategic planning and community involvement in educational governance.

Having resided in Fargo for over 23 years, Mohror has raised two daughters, both of whom graduated from Fargo North High School. In addition to his candidacy, he currently holds the position of Republican chairman for District 21, which encompasses much of the Main Avenue corridor. Mohror previously ran for the school board in June 2024 but was not elected.

The positions up for election are currently held by Melissa Burkland, Katie Christensen Mineer, Greg Clark, Nyamal Dei, and Robin Nelson. Board terms span four years, and the deadline for candidate applications is set for 4 p.m. on April 6, 2024.
