Fargo Salvation Army Launches Thanksgiving Food Box Program

Families in Fargo can now sign up for Thanksgiving food boxes provided by The Salvation Army, starting September 30, 2023. This annual initiative aims to assist those in need, especially during challenging economic times. Last year, the organization supported 671 families, and expectations for this year are high due to rising inflation and economic pressures.

The food boxes will be available for pickup on November 21, 2023, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, located in south Fargo. Maj. Abe Tamayo, a representative from The Salvation Army, emphasized the significance of sharing a Thanksgiving meal.

“It’s very important for families to have a Thanksgiving meal together,” Tamayo stated. “This recognition of the holiday is not just about the food; it’s also a time for families to gather. It may be the only opportunity for a full dinner and a day of rest and appreciation.”
