Walter R. Ucci Remembered for His Life and Contributions
Walter R. Ucci, a respected figure in the reinsurance industry, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida. He was 80 years old and had been fighting cancer for several months. His family and friends remember him as a man of sharp wit, kindness, and a passion for life.
Born and raised in Noank, Connecticut, Walter was a graduate of Fitch High School and Mitchell College. His commitment to service led him to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Panama. Following his military service, he began his professional journey at Electric Boat and CBT before co-founding Resources Management. This company earned a reputation as a respected name in the reinsurance sector, serving clients across New England.
Walter’s life was marked by a love for family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and fishing, but his greatest passion was golf. He established his life and home in Wethersfield, Connecticut, where he raised his children. As an active member of the Wethersfield Country Club, Walter formed lasting friendships while enjoying countless rounds of golf. His enthusiasm for the sport continued after relocating to The Villages, where he often celebrated rounds where he scored lower than his age.
Legacy and Family
Walter is survived by his wife, Yvonne Ucci; daughters Lindsay Ritzenthaler and her husband Dan of Ashland, Massachusetts, and Nicole Dittmann and her husband Matt of Colchester, Connecticut. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Legare, of Madison, Florida, his brother, Robert Ucci, and his wife Susie of Groton, Connecticut, along with four grandchildren: Lauren, Lucas, Hailey, and Isla. These grandchildren were a source of endless joy for Walter throughout his life.
Walter’s family plans to hold a private burial at a later date to honor his memory and celebrate his life. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the joy and laughter he brought to those around him. Walter R. Ucci leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by his loved ones and the community he served.
