SGMC Health has announced the addition of Dr. Victoria Johnson, MD, to its team of women’s health specialists in Valdosta. Dr. Johnson joins the SGMC Women’s Health clinic located on Oak Street Extension, which now features two physicians, a certified nurse midwife, and a dedicated group of nurse practitioners.

Dr. Johnson brings a compassionate and patient-centered approach to her practice, focusing on comprehensive women’s reproductive health care from adolescence through menopause. Her expertise encompasses a broad range of gynecologic and obstetric conditions, including menstrual disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, fibroids, infertility, menopause symptoms, and management of high-risk pregnancies. Additionally, she provides essential preventive care services such as Pap smears, breast exams, and contraceptive counseling.

Expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery

As a skilled surgeon, Dr. Johnson has a keen interest in minimally invasive procedures. These include laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries for hysterectomies, myomectomies, and tubal ligations. She also has experience in performing cesarean sections, particularly in complex obstetric cases.

Dr. Johnson expressed her enthusiasm for the field, stating, “What drew me to OB/GYN is the unique blend of science, surgery, and long-term patient relationships. It’s a privilege to support patients through some of the most meaningful and vulnerable moments of their lives, from their first period to childbirth and beyond.”

Commitment to Patient Care

Dr. Johnson completed her medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, where she also underwent her residency training. During her final year, she was elevated to the position of administrative chief resident, a role that highlighted her leadership skills and dedication to her peers. This experience helped her cultivate a warm, empathetic bedside manner and a strong commitment to shared decision-making.

She aims to foster a safe, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make informed choices regarding their health. Her commitment stems from a deeply personal experience; witnessing her grandmother suffer from stroke complications ignited her passion for medicine and understanding the human body.

Now residing in South Georgia, Dr. Johnson looks forward to establishing lasting relationships with patients and their families. “I’m looking forward to becoming part of a close-knit community,” she said. “SGMC Health stood out to me for its collaborative culture, commitment to excellence, and genuine warmth. I knew right away it was the right fit.”

Outside her professional life, Dr. Johnson enjoys traveling with her husband, Brock, and their lively two-year-old son, Brave. She is also a music enthusiast with a background in violin and trumpet. In her spare time, she enjoys watching crime television shows and is passionate about event planning, creating memorable experiences for friends and family.

Dr. Victoria Johnson is now accepting new patients at SGMC Women’s Health Oak Street, located at 3312 N. Oak St. Extension in Valdosta. To schedule an appointment, interested individuals can call (229) 433-8526.
