A new yoga studio is set to open in Falls Village, as local resident Monica Zinke prepares to launch her business at 107 Main St. This location, previously occupied by Furnace: Art on Paper, has received the necessary approvals from local authorities to facilitate the change of use. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the application on February 26, 2024, followed by the Board of Selectmen voting in favor of the lease the following day.

The lease agreement spans two years at a monthly rate of $650, in addition to a share of the utilities, specifically 15% of the heat and electric bill. Judy Jacobs, a member of the Board of Selectmen, highlighted that Zinke’s proposal was the most suitable for the unique characteristics of the space, which lacks water facilities and is situated in a corner of the ground floor, adjacent to the Off the Trail Cafe.

Zinke plans to offer therapeutic yoga sessions, catering to both private clients and small groups. The connection between Zinke and the cafe’s owners, Liz and Howie Ives, adds a community-oriented aspect to the new venture. Dave Barger, the First Selectman, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “I think this is something well worth coming to our town.”

As Falls Village welcomes this new addition, residents are likely to benefit from the wellness opportunities that Zinke’s yoga studio will provide. The opening is anticipated to foster community engagement and promote health and wellness in the area.
