Recent food safety inspections conducted by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health uncovered significant violations, including the presence of live cockroaches in a local eatery. The inspections, which took place from August 10 to 16, 2025, aimed to assess the hygiene standards of various food and drink establishments throughout the county. These inspections are part of a routine evaluation, with each establishment receiving an annual review, although follow-up inspections may occur if initial results are unsatisfactory.

The findings revealed alarming conditions at several establishments. Notably, during an inspection at Mister P Pizza & Pasta in Abington, PA, inspectors found two live cockroach-like insects in the kitchen area. The facility was directed to immediately sanitize the area and engage a professional pest control service. They must submit a report to the Montgomery County Office of Public Health within ten business days.

Specific Violations Highlighted

In addition to the concerns at Mister P Pizza & Pasta, multiple other establishments displayed serious health code violations. At Tex Mex Connection in North Wales, inspectors identified dirty food-contact surfaces, including soda guns at the bar, and noted improper storage methods for food items, such as jalapenos kept on the floor.

Similarly, Bonefish Grill in King of Prussia failed to maintain proper food safety protocols, lacking a Certified Food Sanitation Manager, which is essential for compliance with health regulations. The establishment must rectify this by submitting necessary documentation to the Montgomery County Office of Public Health within the next 30 days.

At Eve’s Lunch in Norristown, inspectors found a refrigerator operating at 49 degrees Fahrenheit, far above the safe temperature of 41 degrees. The facility promptly discarded temperature-sensitive food items to mitigate risk.

Other notable violations included:
– At Dunkin Donuts, a follow-up inspection confirmed improvements in cleanliness and a reduction in pest activity, although issues with fly-like insects had previously been observed.
El Limon was cited for improper storage practices, including food kept in plastic grocery bags in a refrigerator, and a lack of labeling for chemical substances.

Ongoing Monitoring and Public Health Impact

The Montgomery County Office of Public Health emphasized that these reports provide a snapshot of conditions at the time of inspection and may not accurately reflect the long-term cleanliness of any given establishment. Many violations are often corrected on-site before the inspector leaves. However, the presence of live insects and improper food handling practices highlight ongoing public health risks that require immediate attention.

For residents and patrons, the county maintains an accessible food safety inspection database where complete reports for all establishments can be viewed. Individuals are encouraged to report any foodborne illnesses through the Montgomery County Office of Public Health’s complaint form.

As these inspections continue, the county remains committed to ensuring food safety standards are met, working to protect public health and maintain trust in the local dining establishments.
