Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Starts October 16 in Guam
The annual open enrollment period for Medicare Part D, the prescription drug coverage program, will begin on Guam on October 16, 2025, and run until December 7, 2025. This timeline is slightly different from the mainland United States due to Guam’s time zone. The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) has announced that beneficiaries should review their current plans as costs and covered benefits may vary each year.
During this enrollment window, individuals who are eligible for Medicare can enroll in a new drug plan, switch plans, or opt out of the program altogether. The DPHSS emphasizes the importance of understanding one’s coverage options to ensure they align with individual health needs.
Enrollment Assistance and Information Sessions
To facilitate the enrollment process, the DPHSS is offering appointments for Medicare Part D consultations every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. These sessions will be held at the Division of Senior Citizens office located at 130 University Drive Suite 8, Castle Mall building in Mangilao. In addition, presentations on Medicare Part D will take place each Thursday, starting on October 16 and concluding on December 4, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
It is important to note that there will be no counseling available on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day, and no presentations will be held on Thursday, November 27, due to Thanksgiving.
Resources for Medicare Beneficiaries
Individuals seeking more information about Medicare Part D and the available prescription drug plans can visit www.medicare.gov or contact Medicare directly at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). Additionally, those looking for assistance in Guam can reach out to the Guam Medicare Assistance Program (Guam MAP) by calling (671) 735-7421 or 735-7415, or by emailing [email protected].
Beneficiaries who are satisfied with their current coverage do not need to re-enroll, as automatic renewal will occur for those opting to continue with their existing plans. The DPHSS strongly encourages beneficiaries to take the time to evaluate their options during this critical enrollment period.
