Join the Fun at Boyertown’s 10th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot
Thanksgiving Day in Boyertown will kick off with the much-anticipated 10th Annual Turkey Trot. The event, organized by the Wellness Council of Boyertown, invites community members to celebrate the holiday with a healthy dose of fun. Participants can choose between a 5K Run or a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk at the Boyertown Community Park on November 27, 2024.
Community Tradition Draws Enthusiastic Participants
Last year’s Turkey Trot attracted more than 900 participants, establishing it as a beloved family tradition. The Wellness Council highlighted that many individuals who grew up in the Boyertown area return home for the holidays, making this event an excellent opportunity to reconnect with friends, classmates, and neighbors.
Awards will be given to various winners, including the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K race, as well as the top three winners in multiple age brackets. Additional recognitions will include the largest family and the participant who traveled the farthest. The event will also feature numerous giveaways for those who pre-register for either race.
A Celebration of Community and Health
Among the door prizes are gift baskets and gift certificates to local businesses in downtown Boyertown. All runners will receive a customized participation medal along with race swag. The Turkey Trot was established in memory of Clifford Reigner, a dedicated sports enthusiast and supporter of the Boyertown community. His contributions included earning varsity letters in football and track and field during high school, as well as involvement in local sports organizations.
The Wellness Council is actively seeking sponsorships from businesses, nonprofits, and individuals to support this family-friendly event. Proceeds from the Turkey Trot will fund community health and wellness programs, further enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
Registration and pre-registration check-in will begin at 08:00 on the day of the event at Boyertown Community Park, located at 417 S. Madison St. The registration fee for the 5K race is $35, while children aged 12 and under can register for $20. The fee for the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk is $25, with a reduced price of $20 for children in the same age category. Interested participants can register online at runsignup.com.
