Dr. Andrew Fidler Appointed as Arkansas’s New State Veterinarian

Dr. Andrew Fidler has been appointed as the new state veterinarian for Arkansas, effective Monday. This position marks a significant role in overseeing animal health programs, disease prevention, and regulatory compliance within the state’s livestock and poultry industries.

According to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, the state veterinarian serves as the highest-ranking veterinary official, responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of animals across various sectors. Wes Ward, Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture, expressed confidence in Dr. Fidler’s capabilities, stating, “Dr. Fidler brings extensive experience in animal health, regulatory science, and agricultural research that will be invaluable to the Department and to Arkansas’s livestock and poultry industries.”

Dr. Fidler’s background includes over 15 years of experience in veterinary medicine, academia, and regulatory science. Prior to his appointment, he was the Director of Pre-Clinical Studies at the University of Arkansas Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research, where he contributed to advancements in health technology and food innovation.

As the state veterinarian, Dr. Fidler will collaborate closely with livestock producers, licensed veterinarians, and the public to address animal health issues and implement effective disease prevention programs. His leadership is expected to enhance the support provided to producers across the state, a crucial factor for the success of Arkansas agriculture.
