Arkansas Appoints Dr. Andrew Fidler as New State Veterinarian

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture has appointed Dr. Andrew Fidler as the new state veterinarian, effective Monday. This position is the highest-ranking veterinary role in the state, tasked with overseeing health programs, disease prevention, and regulations for the livestock industry, according to the official state website.

Wes Ward, Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture, highlighted Dr. Fidler’s extensive background, stating, “Dr. Fidler brings extensive experience in animal health, regulatory science, and agricultural research that will be invaluable to the Department and to Arkansas’s livestock and poultry industries.” He emphasized the importance of animal health to the agricultural sector’s success in Arkansas and expressed optimism for Fidler’s leadership in enhancing support for producers statewide.

Dr. Fidler has accrued over 15 years of experience in veterinary medicine, academia, and regulatory science. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Director of Pre-Clinical Studies at the University of Arkansas Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research. In that capacity, he contributed to advancements in health technology and food technology innovation.

As the state veterinarian, Dr. Fidler will collaborate closely with livestock producers, licensed veterinarians, and the public on matters related to animal health and disease prevention programs. His role is critical not only for ensuring compliance with health regulations but also for fostering a robust agricultural environment in Arkansas.
