Community Mourns Loss of Judith “Judy” Hope, 64, in Berlin

Judith “Judy” Hope, aged 64, passed away on January 24, 2026, at UConn Health in Farmington after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Berlin, Judy was known for her independence, grace, and commitment to her community.

Born in New Britain, Judy was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Hope, who died in 2021. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1981 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1995. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated member and volunteer at St. Paul Church in Kensington, where she actively contributed to various community initiatives.

Judy is remembered fondly by those who knew her. She is survived by her beloved dog, Juan, and her cat, Blue. Friends Barbara Rudnick, Lou Zucchi, and Dave Cyr provided unwavering support during her final months, showcasing the strong bonds she formed throughout her life.

Final Farewell and Memorial Services

A public viewing will take place on February 1, 2026, from 16:00 to 18:00 at Carlson Funeral Home, located at 45 Franklin Square in New Britain. Following the viewing, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington, on February 2, 2026, at 10:00. Attendees are encouraged to go directly to the church for the service.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, providing a final resting place for those wishing to pay their respects. The community is invited to share memories or notes of sympathy on the Carlson Funeral Home website.
