Wayne State College will host the next event in its Plains Writers Series on Thursday, March 5, 2025, featuring acclaimed author Tyler Jacobs. The reading will commence at 14:00 in the second-floor lounge of the Humanities Building, and it is free and open to the public. For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be livestreamed on the Plains Writers Series Facebook page.

Jacobs, known for his works such as The Weight of Drought and Building Brownville, has gained recognition for his poetry, which has appeared in various publications including Grist, Phoebe, and the Sierra Nevada Review. His contributions have also been highlighted on Nebraska Public Media’s “Friday LIVE.”

Following the reading, the college will host Poetry Slam 52, commencing at 19:00 at the Max Bar and Grill in downtown Wayne. Registration for participants will begin at 18:30. Individuals interested in competing should bring three original poems and a registration fee. Like the reading, this event is also free and open to the public.
