Police Reveal Motive Behind Stabbing of UIN Suska Student
A shocking incident occurred in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, where a 21-year-old man named R has been arrested for allegedly stabbing Faradila, a 23-year-old student at Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim (UIN Suska). The attack took place just days before Faradila was scheduled to defend her thesis.
According to police reports, the stabbing was not a random act of violence but stemmed from personal motives. Investigators have revealed that R had previously been in a relationship with Faradila, which turned sour. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many students and faculty members in the vicinity during the incident.
Police Chief of Pekanbaru, Inspector General Ahmad Pranoto, stated that R approached Faradila under the pretext of reconciliation. However, the situation escalated quickly, leading to the violent confrontation. “The young woman was taken by surprise when R attacked her with a knife,” Inspector General Pranoto explained during a press conference.
Following the incident, Faradila was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Medical personnel have reported that she is in stable condition but will require surgery to address her injuries. The community is rallying around her, with fellow students organizing support initiatives for her recovery.
In the wake of this incident, UIN Suska has expressed concern for the safety of its students. The university released a statement emphasizing its commitment to providing a safe learning environment. “We are deeply saddened by this event and are taking necessary measures to ensure the security of our campus,” the statement read.
Local authorities are investigating the case further, with R reportedly facing charges of attempted murder. If convicted, he could face significant prison time. The police have urged the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to unfold. The case has sparked discussions about the importance of mental health support and conflict resolution among young people in the region.
As this case continues to develop, the focus remains on the recovery of Faradila and the implications of such violence in educational settings. Community leaders are calling for greater awareness and preventive measures to address similar incidents in the future.
