Hazleton Libraries Host Exciting Fall Events for All Ages
The Hazleton Area Public Library and its affiliated branches are set to offer an engaging array of activities this October, catering to community members of all ages. From book sales and educational programs to creative crafting sessions, these events aim to foster a love of learning and community involvement.
Upcoming Events at Hazleton Area Public Library
The Hazleton Area Public Library, located at 55 N. Church St., Hazleton, will host a book sale on October 11, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. This sale features hardcovers for 50 cents, paperbacks for 25 cents, DVDs for $1, puzzles for $2, and audiobooks for $5. All transactions will be cash only.
On October 13, the library invites grade schoolers in first through fifth grades to participate in LEGO Night from 6 to 7 p.m.. This event will include both a building challenge and free building opportunities. Registration is required and can be made by calling the youth services department starting from October 6.
Another highlight is the Homeschool Hour program titled “The Beauty of Math in Art,” scheduled for October 14. This session will explore the intersection of mathematics and artistic expression, featuring activities such as studying patterns like fractals and tessellations. Families can register by reaching out to the youth services department.
Adults can enjoy a variety of activities as well, including a Board Game Night on October 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., which is free and encourages participants to bring their own games. Additionally, a guided meditation session led by certified instructor Sheila Dignazio will take place on October 15, focusing on mindfulness techniques to alleviate stress.
Programs at Additional Libraries
The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library, located at 35 Kirby Ave., Mountain Top, will host Socrates Café at 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. This gathering invites individuals from diverse backgrounds to engage in thoughtful discussions facilitated by Steve Wallace.
In Ringtown, the Ringtown Area Library, situated at 132 W. Main St., offers Preschool Playtime every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.. This unstructured hour allows children to socialize and explore the educational toys available. No registration is necessary, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Weatherly Area Community Library is also gearing up for several events, including a book sale room grand opening on October 17, where attendees can purchase books for $3 per bag. Additionally, a puzzle competition will take place on November 22, where teams of up to four can compete to complete a 500-piece puzzle for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate.
