The MTV Video Music Awards brought a night of celebration and standout performances, with Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga taking center stage. Grande secured the coveted Video of the Year and Best Pop awards, expressing gratitude in her acceptance speech by thanking her “therapists and gay people.” Gaga, who was nominated in multiple categories, won the Artist of the Year award and delivered a powerful performance at Madison Square Garden.
In addition to these highlights, Mariah Carey received the Video Vanguard Award, treating the audience to a medley of her classic hits. A tribute performance honored the late Ozzy Osbourne, while Busta Rhymes was recognized with the Rock the Bells Visionary Award. Notably, Ricky Martin was celebrated as the first-ever Latin Icon at the event, which was hosted by LL Cool J.
Creative Arts Emmys Celebrate Television Achievements
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards also showcased impressive achievements in television, with “Saturday Night Live” emerging as the biggest winner of the night, collecting 11 awards for its milestone 50th season. Kendrick Lamar and Barack Obama each received their second Emmy awards, with Lamar winning for music direction at his Super Bowl halftime show and Obama recognized for documentary narration. Though neither attended the ceremony, their wins highlight their significant contributions to the industry.

Prince Harry Sparks Reconciliation Speculation During UK Visit
In a separate development, Prince Harry is making a brief visit to the United Kingdom to engage with his charities, which has prompted speculation regarding a possible meeting with his father, King Charles III. This visit coincides with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing and may represent an opportunity for reconciliation within the family. Harry’s relationship with his father and brother has been strained since he relocated to California in 2020, particularly following the couple’s public disclosures about their experiences with the royal family.

Additionally, Netflix will present a two-part documentary titled “AKA Charlie Sheen,” chronicling the life of the controversial star, while a psychological thriller featuring Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke will be available on Prime Video.
At the recent Venice Film Festival, Jim Jarmusch’s film “Father Mother Sister Brother” captured the Golden Lion award, surprising audiences. The festival also highlighted significant performances and themes, with Dwayne Johnson generating Oscar buzz for his role in “The Smashing Machine.” The festival concluded with the screening of “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” which received a record-breaking 22-minute standing ovation.
In other news, the music world mourns the loss of Mark Volman, a founding member of the 1960s pop group The Turtles, who passed away at the age of 78 due to a brief illness.
