Kolor Unveils Nautical-Inspired Fall 2026 Menswear Collection
The Kolor Fall 2026 Menswear collection debuted recently, showcasing a unique blend of nautical themes and storytelling. Under the direction of Horiuchi, who has taken the helm of the brand from its founder Junichi Abe, this season’s collection reflects a thoughtful exploration of fear, mystery, and bravery, drawing inspiration from the classic tale of *Moby Dick*.
Horiuchi’s vision became apparent through the first looks on the runway, featuring a trio of weathered wool outfits in a somber storm cloud gray. Each piece was embellished with lines of white pad stitching that traced the contours of lapels and shoulders, evoking the ruggedness of the sea. Layered coats, jackets, and skirts had a distinctly distressed appearance, embodying Horiuchi’s interpretation of a Japanese phrase that refers to being tossed about by turbulent waves.
“Many things are falling apart,” Horiuchi remarked backstage, reflecting on the changing landscape of fashion and society. He noted, “We’re also entering the age of AI, and many things are changing right now, so we’re all on our own kind of voyage into the unknown.” This sentiment set the tone for a collection that feels both timely and introspective.
As the show progressed, the collection transitioned from the stormy grays and military greens of the initial pieces to a brighter palette, signaling a shift in mood. Highlighted looks included metallic jeans that shimmered like fish scales and a bright yellow fisherman duffel coat. A striking nylon mariner work suit, reminiscent of a cloudless sky, added vibrancy to the lineup.
“It’s a heavy, difficult voyage, trying to reach somewhere new in the end,” Horiuchi explained, capturing the essence of his creative journey. His navigation through the complexities of contemporary menswear suggests a designer capable of steering the Kolor brand through the ever-changing tides of fashion.
As fashion enthusiasts and critics reflect on this collection, it will be fascinating to observe Horiuchi’s evolution as a designer in the coming seasons. His ability to blend narrative and craftsmanship positions Kolor as a noteworthy contender in the industry as it embarks on this new chapter.
