Zotac Launches Compact Zbox Magnus Mini PC to Rival Mac Studio
Zotac has unveiled the Zbox Magnus EN275060TC, a mini PC designed to compete with the Apple Mac Studio in terms of performance. This compact system features an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card, all packed into a chassis measuring just 210 x 203 x 62.2 mm and weighing approximately 1.4 kilograms. With a volume of only 2.65 liters, it promises a powerful computing experience in a highly portable form factor.
The Magnus EN275060TC comes equipped with an impressive 20-core processor, which includes eight performance cores and twelve efficiency cores, capable of reaching turbo speeds of 5.2GHz. This configuration, combined with the graphics card’s 16GB of VRAM, positions the system as a suitable option for tasks ranging from 4K gaming to creative workloads and AI applications. Despite its compact size, the device reportedly delivers more power than many traditional mid-tower desktops.
Customization and Connectivity Options
Unlike fully assembled systems, the Zbox Magnus is offered as a barebones kit, allowing users to select their own high-speed RAM and storage. It supports up to 96GB of DDR5 memory, with options for both 6400MT/s and 5600MT/s speeds, depending on the type of module chosen. Additionally, users can install dual M.2 SSDs, with slots for one PCIe 5.0 and one PCIe 4.0 drive, enhancing the system’s flexibility for personal configurations.
Connectivity features are robust, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports, five USB Type-A ports, dual Ethernet connections, and four display outputs, which support multiple monitors. The system also incorporates Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring state-of-the-art wireless connectivity. However, it requires a sizeable 330W external power supply, which slightly offsets the appeal of its compact design.
Market Position and Pricing
Zotac is positioning the Zbox Magnus at a competitive price point, listed in some European markets at around €1,600, translating to approximately $1,555 before taxes. This pricing places it in direct competition with larger desktop PCs that may offer superior cooling solutions and potentially better sustained performance over time.
While the Zbox Magnus EN275060TC aims to deliver desktop-class performance in a miniaturized package, questions about its thermal management and long-term performance remain to be fully answered. As technology enthusiasts examine the viability of this new entrant, its potential to challenge established systems like the Mac Studio may depend on user experiences as much as specifications.
For those seeking a compact yet powerful PC, the Zbox Magnus offers an intriguing blend of features and customization options. As Zotac continues to innovate in the mini PC market, it will be interesting to see how this model performs against its competitors.
