Wobbly Life Expands to Film and TV with Prime Universe Films
Wobbly Life, the popular open-world sandbox game developed by Rubber Band Games, is set to make its debut on film and television. This expansion comes as a result of a partnership with Prime Universe Films, aimed at adapting the game into multiple media formats. The announcement marks an exciting new chapter for the game, which has grown significantly since its initial launch.
Partnership Details and Expectations
Since its release in 2020, Wobbly Life has transformed from a solo project into a global phenomenon. The game has sold over 2.8 million units worldwide and boasts a player base of approximately six million across various platforms. In 2025, total player engagement reached over 60 million hours, showcasing the game’s widespread appeal.
Adrian Askarieh, CEO of Prime Universe Films, expressed enthusiasm about adapting the game for screen. “Wobbly Life’s meteoric growth shows the strength of the universe and I’m excited to work with Rubber Band Games to bring it into film and television,” he stated. Askarieh is known for his previous work on adaptations of the Hitman franchise and is currently involved in the production of the Hitman TV series.
The collaboration has roots in a deal announced with IO Interactive back in 2017. Askarieh emphasized that the unique tone, identity, and characters of Wobbly Life lend themselves well to storytelling across various formats, suggesting that audiences can expect a rich narrative experience.
Community Impact and Future Growth
The success of Wobbly Life can be attributed largely to its vibrant community. Tom Dunn, founder of Rubber Band Games, remarked, “From day one, the success of Wobbly Life has been driven by the community. The team and I have been blown away by the huge growth this year, and we’re thrilled to see Wobbly Life take its first steps into film and TV.” He anticipates that 2026 will bring even greater milestones for the franchise.
As the game continues to evolve and expand its universe, the forthcoming film and television adaptations are expected to attract even more players and fans. This venture not only highlights the game’s success but also sets the stage for further transmedia storytelling opportunities.
The partnership with Prime Universe Films marks a significant step for Wobbly Life, emphasizing the growing intersection between gaming and the entertainment industry. As audiences eagerly await the adaptations, the creative team is poised to deliver a captivating experience that resonates with both existing fans and newcomers alike.
