US Workers Embrace AI: 23% Use Tech Weekly, Gallup Reports
A recent Gallup poll reveals that the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace is gaining momentum among US employees. As of the third quarter of 2025, approximately 23% of employees report using AI at least a few times per week, a significant increase from 12% in the second quarter of 2024. Additionally, 45% of respondents indicated they use AI a few times each year, highlighting the growing integration of this technology into daily work routines.
The rise in AI usage is notable as it coincides with a rapid shift in workplace dynamics. The proportion of employees who utilize AI daily has also surged, climbing from 4% in mid-2024 to 10% in 2025. This trend suggests that more workers are finding practical applications for AI tools in their roles.
Top AI Applications in the Workplace
The Gallup survey further explored how employees are leveraging AI technology. The findings identify the top five ways AI is being utilized:
– 42% of employees consolidate information or data.
– 41% generate ideas using AI tools.
– 36% engage in learning new skills or knowledge.
– 34% automate basic tasks to improve efficiency.
– 20% identify and troubleshoot problems.
A significant 61% of AI-using employees reported interacting with chatbots such as ChatGPT or Claude. Furthermore, 36% utilize AI-powered writing and editing tools, while 14% turn to AI coding assistants to streamline their coding tasks.
Concerns Among Younger Workers
Despite the increasing reliance on AI, concerns regarding job security persist. A separate survey conducted by the Harvard Youth Poll found that 59% of Americans aged 18 to 29 view AI as a potential threat to their job prospects. This apprehension exists even as many express confidence in AI’s ability to assist with school and work assignments.
Additionally, a previous Gallup poll from June indicated that corporate leaders are more likely to adopt AI than their employees, suggesting a disparity in how different levels of staff embrace the technology.
As AI continues to evolve and permeate various sectors, its impact on the workforce will be a topic of ongoing discussion. With both opportunities and challenges on the horizon, the relationship between employees and AI promises to shape the future of work in profound ways.
