Swisslog Partners with Diligent Robotics to Enhance Hospital Automation

Swisslog Healthcare has established a strategic alliance with Diligent Robotics Inc., based in Austin, Texas. This partnership aims to introduce autonomous last-mile delivery robots to hospitals throughout the United States, enhancing the efficiency of medical transport and pharmacy automation solutions. With its North American headquarters located in Broomfield, Colorado, Swisslog is well-positioned to integrate these innovative technologies into healthcare settings.

The collaboration is designed to streamline workflows and automate tasks, ultimately empowering hospital pharmacies to improve patient care. Cory Kwarta, president and CEO of Swisslog Healthcare, stated, “Our strategic alliance with Diligent Robotics adds a complementary pillar to our automation offerings and reinforces our vision to lead change for better care.” He emphasized that the introduction of last-mile delivery robots is part of their commitment to innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of their customers.

Growth in Service Robotics

The service-robotics sector is projected to expand at an annual rate of 15% to 18% over the next three to five years. This partnership strengthens Swisslog’s position in the automation of healthcare transport solutions, enhancing its existing pneumatic tube systems provided by Translogic, a subsidiary of Swisslog. Together, these technologies will improve the tracking and tracing of goods transported within hospitals.

Diligent Robotics’ Moxi robot has already made significant strides in the healthcare industry. Currently deployed in over 25 U.S. hospitals, Moxi has successfully completed more than one million deliveries, including approximately 300,000 pharmacy deliveries. This impressive track record highlights the robot’s capability to alleviate some of the logistical burdens faced by healthcare professionals.
