Spotify Expands AI-Powered Prompted Playlists to US and Canada
Spotify has announced the expansion of its innovative Prompted Playlist feature, which was initially launched in beta in New Zealand last month. The rollout will soon reach Premium users in the United States and Canada, enhancing the way listeners curate their music experiences.
The Prompted Playlist utilizes artificial intelligence to allow users to describe their desired listening experience in their own words. By combining these descriptions with users’ listening histories, Spotify aims to deliver highly relevant song selections. According to the company, “You’re not just asking for music, you’re shaping how Spotify goes about discovering it for you.” This personalization could result in recommendations featuring fresher tracks, emerging artists, or specific genres tailored to individual preferences.
How Prompted Playlists Work
The AI-driven playlists are designed to adapt to both existing listening habits and current music trends, refining recommendations over time. Users can refresh their playlists daily or weekly, and the new feature allows for sharing with friends, similar to existing playlist functionalities.
Spotify plans to make the Prompted Playlists available to all Premium users in the US and Canada by the end of March 2024. To create a playlist, users simply tap the Create button and select the Prompted Playlist option. Additionally, the app’s Home screen will display example prompts curated by Spotify’s music editors and culture experts, providing inspiration for users looking to explore new sounds or themes.
This expansion reflects Spotify’s commitment to enhancing user engagement through personalized experiences. By leveraging advanced technology, the company continues to set itself apart in the competitive music streaming industry. The introduction of Prompted Playlists signifies a shift towards more interactive and user-driven music discovery, aligning with current trends in digital content consumption.
As Spotify prepares for this launch, users in the US and Canada can look forward to a more tailored listening experience that not only meets their musical tastes but also encourages exploration of new genres and artists. With the integration of AI, Spotify is poised to redefine how music is discovered and enjoyed on its platform.
