Rivian’s Also Launches Versatile TM-B Ebike for All Riders

Rivian’s spinoff brand, Also, has unveiled its latest innovation, the TM-B ebike, designed to compete with a wide range of electric bicycles. This ambitious model aims to offer a versatile solution for various riders, combining functionality with a playful design. The TM-B is not just an ordinary ebike; it incorporates unique technology that sets it apart from traditional models.
The TM-B features a distinctive propulsion system that is quite different from conventional ebikes. Instead of the typical motor connected to the rear wheel, this model uses a generator powered by the rider’s pedaling. This generator charges the bike’s battery pack, which is linked to the DreamRide software-driven system that provides pedal assistance. This innovative approach allows for a more seamless riding experience.
Customizable Features and Performance
One of the standout features of the TM-B is its adaptability. Riders can easily switch the top frame to accommodate different configurations, including a solo seat, a bench seat, or a utility rack capable of carrying up to 77 lb (35 kg) of cargo. The bike also allows for various tire options, catering to both road and off-road conditions, and comes with two handlebar styles for added comfort.
The removable battery pack offers a range of up to 100 miles (160 km), depending on factors such as rider weight and terrain. Additionally, it can function as a 240-W power bank, providing USB-C charging for electronic devices. In the event of a low battery, a “limp mode” ensures the bike can still be pedaled to safety, similar to standard ebikes. The TM-B can reach speeds of 20 mph (32 km/h) with throttle assistance and up to 28 mph (45 km/h) with pedaling support, delivering up to 10x assist and featuring regenerative braking for energy efficiency.
The bike’s suspension system includes an air shock and air fork that provide 120 mm of travel, making it suitable for both urban commuting and rough trails. Riders can customize the level of assistance and gear shifting, with a notable 132 lb-ft (180 Nm) of torque available through the drive system. This versatility allows users to switch from a leisurely commute to a more intense workout by adjusting the assistance level.
Smart Technology and Pricing
Adding to its appeal, the TM-B is equipped with a circular 5-inch color touchscreen that displays riding statistics, navigation, and music controls. The bike also features an automatic locking mechanism when parked, ensuring security by rendering it immobile until unlocked via a mobile app. In case of tampering, the bike will alert the owner, and a remote disable option enhances security further.
The starting price for the TM-B is set at US$4,000, which includes a base model with a 60-mile (97-km) battery and a 5x assist multiplier. The higher-end Performance and Launch Editions, priced at US$4,500, offer upgraded features such as a larger 100-mile (161-km) battery and improved forks. These models are expected to ship in the spring of 2026, with pre-orders currently available for the Launch Edition requiring a $50 deposit.
In addition to the TM-B, Also has introduced two electric pedal-assisted four-wheelers called the TM-Q. The smaller version resembles the front end of an ebike and features a cargo bed with bench seating for up to four children. The larger TM-Q is designed for delivery purposes, equipped with a tall windshield, headlights, and a covered cargo hold, both of which can use bike lanes.
With the TM-B and its innovative offerings, Also aims to make a significant impact in the expanding ebike market. While it may not cater to hardcore cycling enthusiasts who prioritize specific performance metrics, the TM-B’s versatility and functionality could attract a diverse range of riders looking for a practical and enjoyable electric biking experience.
