Opera Neon Unveils Nano Banana Pro and AI Enhancements
Opera Neon has introduced significant upgrades, including the new Nano Banana Pro model and advanced AI features designed to enhance user productivity. The browser now allows users to select their preferred AI model for interactions within Neon Chat, following the recent launch of Google’s Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro. This flexibility empowers users to switch models during conversations, tailoring their experience to their specific needs.
One of the standout innovations is the newly launched Deep Research feature, which generates structured reports in approximately one minute. Opera claims this tool significantly reduces the time spent on manual searches by cross-referencing multiple sources, effectively transforming the browser into a powerful research hub.
Enhanced Functionality with Google Integration
In addition to the Deep Research feature, Opera has upgraded its Neon Do agent, enabling users to create Google Docs directly from the browser. This feature responds to user demand and streamlines workflows by integrating one of the most widely used word processors on the internet. Users can easily prompt the Do agent to compile information, such as product research, into a comparison document within a Google Doc.
To utilize this feature, users simply select the Do agent from the browser’s omnibox and enter their request. This integration reflects Opera’s commitment to enhancing user experience by incorporating popular tools into their ecosystem.
Community-Driven Development
Opera Neon serves as an experimental platform for the company, allowing it to rapidly adopt cutting-edge AI technologies. According to Krystian Kolondra, Executive Vice President of Browsers at Opera, the development process is highly collaborative, engaging the community in shaping the product. Kolondra states, “Opera Neon is our experimental playground that allows us to tap into the most cutting-edge AI technologies that exist on the web. We’re developing this product together with our community – at an extreme speed.”
Currently, access to Opera Neon remains limited to invited users as part of an early access program. While Opera is gradually expanding access, interested users must register on the Opera Neon website to secure an invitation. In addition to Neon, Opera continues to offer a range of free browsers, including Opera One and Opera Air, catering to diverse user preferences.
With these updates, Opera Neon aims to redefine the browsing experience, positioning itself at the forefront of AI-driven browser technology.
