Noetix Robotics Launches Affordable Humanoid Robot Bumi at $1,400
Beijing-based Noetix Robotics has unveiled its latest innovation, a consumer-grade humanoid robot named Bumi, set to launch at a pre-sale price of ¥9,998 (approximately $1,400). This price point marks a significant milestone in the robotics market as Bumi becomes the first high-performance humanoid robot in China to fall below the ¥10,000 threshold.
Standing at about 94 cm tall and weighing approximately 12 kg, Bumi is equipped with a 48 V battery that offers a capacity of over 3.5 Ah, providing a run time of one to two hours. The robot is designed to perform various motions, including walking, running, and dancing. Notably, it also features drag-and-drop graphical programming aimed at children, alongside voice interaction capabilities tailored for educational and companionship purposes.
Significance of Bumi’s Launch
Noetix Robotics describes Bumi as the “industry’s first sub-¥10,000 consumer humanoid robot,” indicating a pivotal shift from laboratory prototypes to accessible home devices. Founded in September 2023, Noetix draws its core team from prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University. The startup’s rapid ascent in the robotics sector has captured attention, particularly following its earlier success with the N2 humanoid robot, which received over 2,500 orders and participated in a humanoid robot half-marathon in 2024.
The launch of Bumi signifies a potential transformation in the commercialization of humanoid robots within China, moving from niche markets into broader consumer accessibility.
