Navitas Launches 10kW DC–DC Platform for AI Data Centers
Navitas Semiconductor Corp, based in Torrance, California, has introduced a new 10kW DC–DC power platform that achieves an impressive peak efficiency of 98.5% and a switching frequency of 1MHz. This innovation is designed to support the growing power demands of next-generation AI data centers, which require substantial energy efficiency and density for large-scale operations.
The all-GaN platform operates within an 800V–to–50V architecture, employing 650V and 100V GaNFast FETs in a three-level half-bridge configuration. The compact full-brick design, measuring 61mm x 116mm x 11mm, boasts a power density of 2.1kW/in³, enabling significant advancements in power management for AI applications.
Meeting Evolving Power Needs
According to Chris Allexandre, President and CEO of Navitas, this new design platform facilitates the transition to high-voltage direct current (HVDC) infrastructure in data centers. He emphasizes that AI workloads will increasingly demand between 100 and 1,000 times more computational power per query. This shift necessitates a more efficient power supply to support these advanced applications.
The platform’s design integrates auxiliary power and control systems, making it easier for manufacturers to adopt and implement high-power-density module designs. This capability is crucial for the evolving landscape of AI data centers, which are expected to operate more sustainably and efficiently.
Navitas is currently collaborating with key data center customers to evaluate this platform further. The 10kW DC–DC solution will be showcased at the IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC 2026), taking place in San Antonio, TX, USA, from March 22-26, 2026. Attendees can visit Navitas at booth #2027 for a closer look at this groundbreaking technology.
Advancements in Power Electronics
The introduction of this platform marks a significant step forward in the field of power electronics, particularly as data centers increasingly rely on efficient power solutions. The ability to deliver high efficiency and power density is vital for meeting the energy demands of modern computing, especially in the context of rapidly advancing AI technologies.
For more detailed information, Navitas has published a whitepaper titled “Redefining Data Center Power: GaN and SiC Technologies for Next-Gen 800 VDC Infrastructure,” which explores the implications of these technologies in greater depth.
Overall, Navitas continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in AI data center power management, promising enhanced efficiency, scalability, and sustainability for the future.
