Mitsubishi Unveils Elevance Concept at Tokyo Mobility Show
Mitsubishi has introduced the Elevance Concept at the Tokyo Mobility Show, marking a significant step forward in the realm of electrified SUVs. This innovative plug-in hybrid vehicle combines elegance with adventure, setting a new standard for the brand’s future electrified offerings.
The name “Elevance” cleverly merges “elevate” and “elegance,” reflecting the concept’s philosophy of enhancing both refinement and the spirit of exploration. The Elevance Concept is powered by a versatile plug-in hybrid system that can utilize carbon-neutral fuels, including hydrogen-based e-fuels and biofuels. This approach aligns with modern consumer demands for sustainability, appealing to those keen on reducing their carbon footprint.
Features Designed for Modern Explorers
One of the standout features of the Elevance is its solar panel-covered roof, which acts as a supplementary energy source to extend the vehicle’s driving range. Underneath its robust yet fluid exterior, the Elevance is equipped with Mitsubishi’s proprietary Super All-Wheel Control technology. This four-motor all-wheel drive system maximizes stability and traction, particularly in challenging conditions, such as rain-soaked roads or rugged terrain. Complementing this is the Active Yaw Control system, enhancing handling characteristics, a nod to Mitsubishi’s legacy in rally racing.
The interior of the Elevance Concept features an intelligent digital assistant, referred to as the AI Co-driver system. This advanced technology analyzes the driving environment and the driver’s physical state to provide real-time recommendations, akin to a traditional rally co-driver. Mitsubishi emphasizes that this human-centric approach to artificial intelligence aims to make technology helpful and empathetic, rather than intrusive.
Stylish and Practical
Aesthetically, the Elevance Concept embraces a “Luxe Adventurer” theme, blending strength with sophistication. The vehicle features a monocoque body design, paired with a ribbed structure that conveys the durability of an exploration frame while underscoring the concept’s premium nature.
In keeping with its identity as a modern off-roader, the Elevance Concept comes with a trailer equipped with solar panels. This trailer transforms into a luxurious sleeping space, ideal for a glamping experience. Mitsubishi asserts that this vehicle-trailer combination has the potential to “transform any destination into a dream getaway.”
Through the Elevance Concept, Mitsubishi seeks to demonstrate that responsible mobility can coexist with refined design and the joy of exploration. This ambitious vision highlights the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, appealing to a new generation of environmentally conscious drivers.
