Microsoft Unveils New Cloud PC Devices from Asus and Dell
Microsoft has announced the upcoming launch of two new cloud PC devices from Asus and Dell, designed specifically for its cloud-based virtual desktop service, Windows 365. These devices will complement the existing Windows 365 Link, which debuted in April 2025. The introduction of these new products marks a significant step in providing organizations with streamlined access to Windows operating systems through a subscription model.
Windows 365 allows users to stream Windows 10 or Windows 11 on any device via a web browser or the Windows app. The cloud PC devices, including the new offerings from Asus and Dell, are designed to be secure and easy to manage, featuring no local data or applications. This approach is particularly beneficial for organizations across various sectors, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, professional services, and telecommunications.
“We have been energized to see organizations adopting Windows 365 and Windows 365 Link for critical workloads across industries,” Microsoft stated. The company expressed enthusiasm for the anticipated release of more Cloud PC devices, noting that they will enhance the power, simplicity, and security of Windows 365 for organizations.
Details on Upcoming Devices
Set to launch in the third quarter of 2026, the Asus NUC 16 for Windows 365 and the Dell Pro Desktop for Windows 365 are designed to resemble compact mini PCs, equipped with a variety of ports. The Asus NUC 16 will support connections to up to three displays, thanks to its HDMI and USB Type-C ports. With a compact form factor of just 0.7 liters, this device can even be mounted behind a display, providing flexibility in space utilization.
According to Asus, the NUC 16 for Windows 365 is powered by the latest Intel processor and features DDR5 memory. It also supports advanced connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and 2.5Gb Ethernet, although specific technical details have yet to be disclosed.
The Dell Pro Desktop for Windows 365 will also support up to three displays and is designed for durability and quiet operation. Microsoft has described this device as compact and fanless, making it suitable for environments where noise reduction is a priority. While specific specifications for the Dell device remain under wraps, it is clear that both new offerings aim to cater to the diverse needs of modern work environments.
Future Updates to Windows 365
In addition to expanding its Cloud PC device lineup, Microsoft has announced several updates to Windows 365 scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026. These enhancements will include support for pairing Bluetooth devices during the out-of-box experience, allowing for a smoother setup process. Organizations will also have the option to customize their sign-in screens with specific wallpapers, logos, and names, further personalizing the user experience.
The push towards cloud PC solutions reflects a broader trend in the technology landscape, as organizations increasingly seek flexible and secure ways to manage their IT resources. As more devices like the Asus NUC 16 and Dell Pro Desktop enter the market, Microsoft aims to solidify its position at the forefront of cloud computing services.
