Idaho Transportation Department Seeks Input for Road Upgrades

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is actively seeking community input on proposed upgrades to roads and highways in the Rathdrum Prairie area. This initiative, known as the Rathdrum Prairie Area Transportation Study, aims to enhance travel efficiency across Kootenai County.

After gathering initial community feedback and performing a thorough technical analysis, planners have identified 13 promising projects. These options are designed to tackle existing safety issues, alleviate traffic congestion, and accommodate anticipated regional growth.

Residents are invited to participate in a public meeting scheduled for September 17, 2025. This session will provide an opportunity for community members to review the proposed improvements and express their priorities. The meeting will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Q’emiln Park Trailhead Event Center, located at 12201 W. Parkway Dr., Post Falls. Attendees can arrive at any time during the event to view project displays and engage with transportation officials. Families are encouraged to attend.

For those unable to participate in person, the ITD has made information accessible online. Community members can review the same materials and submit comments via the department’s website at www.itdprojects.idaho.gov. The online feedback window will remain open until October 1, 2025, ensuring ample opportunity for input.
