HONOR Unveils Innovative Robot Phone Design Ahead of MWC 2026
HONOR has introduced a groundbreaking concept in smartphone technology with its new Robot Phone, featuring a gimbal camera mounted on a robotic arm. The company teased this innovative device last month and announced plans to showcase it globally at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in March 2026. Before this major event, a preview of the phone’s design was revealed during the HONOR User Carnival in China.
Design Features of the HONOR Robot Phone
The preview provided insights into the design and functionality of the Robot Phone. Various iterations and color options were displayed, including classic choices such as black, white, and gold. The back of the device will feature either a faux leather or glass finish, with variations in weight depending on the material used.
The rear design bears a resemblance to the iPhone 17 Pro, characterized by a prominent horizontal camera module at the top and an aluminum chassis below. The phone is presented in a closed box, highlighting its sleek aesthetics.
Gimbal Camera: The Highlight of the Robot Phone
At the core of the Robot Phone’s appeal is its retractable gimbal camera, which closely resembles the technology found in the DJI Osmo Pocket series. This camera is designed to extend from a dedicated space within the camera module, suggesting a sophisticated integration of advanced imaging technology. Alongside the gimbal, the phone is expected to include several additional camera sensors within its layout.
The Robot Phone will incorporate a suite of artificial intelligence features that enable the gimbal to dynamically respond to its surroundings. This innovative capability may set the device apart from standard smartphones, potentially enhancing the user experience in photography and videography.
While the unique design and features promise to make the Robot Phone a standout in the competitive smartphone market, concerns about durability arise due to the presence of moving parts. As the launch date approaches, further details are anticipated during the MWC 2026, where HONOR is expected to elaborate on the device’s specifications and performance capabilities.
With the Robot Phone, HONOR aims to push the boundaries of smartphone design and functionality, appealing to tech enthusiasts and consumers looking for cutting-edge innovations.
