Honda Unveils Performance-Focused HRC Trims at Tokyo and SEMA Shows

Among the highlights was a camouflaged concept of the Civic Type R, featuring a striking body kit with reshaped bumpers, custom rear wing endplates, and an expansive rear diffuser. Additionally, a motorsport-inspired version of the new Prelude was revealed, equipped with lightweight forged carbon fiber components.

Performance and Ruggedness Combined

The new HRC trims aim to cater to both street performance enthusiasts and those seeking rugged SUV capabilities. The “Sport Line” features models like the Civic Type R and Integra Type S, while the “Trail Line” targets SUVs including the CR-V, ZR-V, WR-V, and Vezel. These Trail Line concepts are designed to appeal to off-road adventurers, showcasing protective body cladding and enhanced off-road features.

According to Honda’s Vice President, Hideo Kawasaka, the company plans to roll out these Sport Line and Trail Line models through the HRC department. While he did not confirm specific production timelines or markets for these models, Kawasaka emphasized the significance of racing in Honda’s development strategy. “Without racing, our vehicles will not get any better,” Kawasaka stated in an interview with Auto News. He highlighted how insights gained from motorsport directly contribute to the improvement of production vehicles.

At the 2024 SEMA Show, the company unveiled a significantly modified Acura Integra Type S, showcasing aggressive aftermarket components and racing upgrades.
