Anthropic Secures $13 Billion, Valuation Hits $183 Billion
Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence startup known for its AI assistant Claude, has successfully completed a funding round, raising $13 billion and achieving a post-money valuation of $183 billion. This significant financial milestone positions the company as a formidable competitor to OpenAI in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
In a press release issued following the holiday weekend, Anthropic reported remarkable growth in its financial metrics. Between the start of 2025 and August, the company’s run-rate revenue surged from approximately $1 billion to more than $5 billion. This dramatic increase highlights the rising demand for AI solutions in the business sector, with Anthropic now boasting over 300,000 business customers.
The company also noted a substantial expansion in its roster of “large accounts,” defined as customers contributing over $100,000 in annual revenue. These accounts increased sevenfold over the past year, indicating a strong market presence and growing client trust.
Growth Driven by Claude Code
A key driver of Anthropic’s revenue growth has been its product, Claude Code, which has already generated more than $500 million in run-rate revenue. Since its full launch, usage of Claude Code has increased by more than tenfold in just three months, reflecting its strong acceptance in the industry and among users.
The recent Series F funding round was spearheaded by prominent investment firms, including ICONIQ, Fidelity Management & Research Company, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Other notable investors included the Qatar Investment Authority, TPG, Altimeter, Blackstone, and Coatue, among others. This diverse group of investors underscores the confidence in Anthropic’s business model and future potential.
Anthropic stated it would utilize the new capital to address increasing enterprise demand, enhance its safety research initiatives, and support its international expansion goals. This strategic investment aims to fortify its market position as AI technology continues to advance and integrate into various sectors.
The impressive valuation and funding round mark a significant step for Anthropic as it navigates the competitive AI landscape. With its focus on innovation and expansion, the company is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
