University of Tulsa’s Real Estate Center Empowers Future Leaders

The Center for Real Estate Studies at The University of Tulsa is transforming the educational landscape for future real estate professionals through practical learning experiences and industry connections. Recently, the center introduced a new course titled Real Estate Market Analysis, designed to equip students with essential skills utilized by industry experts. This initiative emphasizes applied learning, with students engaging in real-world market and investment analyses for local partners, including the Tulsa Market District, Fair Oaks, and CloudHaus.
Experiential learning is central to the center’s mission, and this year, students had the opportunity to tour several significant projects. These included Price Family Properties’ ongoing office-to-multifamily conversions in downtown Tulsa, Flintco’s construction of the new Gilcrease Museum, and Ashton Gray’s development of a medical surgical center in South Tulsa. Such tours provide students with valuable insights into various facets of real estate development.
In February 2025, a group of 20 students traveled to Oklahoma City to attend the ULI Impact Awards. During this event, they met with alumni and potential employers, enhancing their professional network. Additionally, in May, eight students represented UTulsa at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) national conference in Las Vegas, the largest commercial real estate event in the United States. This experience offered them exposure to emerging retail trends and opportunities to connect with leading professionals in the field.
The center further advanced its mission through a summer project under the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge, led by faculty members and real estate experts Meagan McCollum and Cayman Seagraves. This collaborative effort focused on developing early detection methods for housing blight within Tulsa. The goal is to inform more responsive and equitable local housing policies, reflecting the center’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
As the real estate industry continues to evolve, the Center for Real Estate Studies at The University of Tulsa is positioning its students at the forefront of this dynamic field. Through innovative education, practical experiences, and strong local connections, the center is shaping the next generation of real estate leaders. The combination of academic rigor and hands-on learning prepares students not only to enter the workforce but to excel within it.
