Women Unite for Habitat for Humanity’s 2026 Build in Craven County
Women from various backgrounds are set to participate in the upcoming **2026 Women Build** program organized by Habitat for Humanity of Craven County. Scheduled to take place from **February 25 to February 28, 2026**, the initiative aims to create an inclusive environment where women can volunteer, learn new skills, and form lasting friendships, all while addressing pressing housing needs in the region.
Tracey Lilly, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Craven County, emphasized the program’s significance. “This year’s Women Build offers a unique opportunity for women of all experience levels to come together and work towards a common goal,” she stated. The initiative is open to all, with no prior construction skills required, making it a welcoming event for everyone interested in contributing.
The **Women Build** program is supported by the **Coastal Women’s Forum**, which is enthusiastic about its role in strengthening the community. Board member Heather Thornburg expressed the organization’s commitment, stating, “This sponsorship allows us to not only support the organization financially but physically. It’s a true building situation.”
The event is designed to empower families by promoting home ownership, particularly benefiting women and children who are often most affected by inadequate living conditions. Lilly remarked, “The Women Build empowers families with greater strength, stability, and independence through home ownership.”
Volunteers are invited to participate during specific hours: February 25 from **noon to 4 p.m.**, February 26 and 27 from **8 a.m. to noon**, and on February 28 from **8 a.m. to noon** or **noon to 4 p.m.** Additionally, individuals can contribute **$20** for each volunteer shift to assist Habitat for Humanity’s **Home Sweet Home campaign**, which aims to raise **$150,000** for a new home in the Pembroke community of New Bern.
The Women Build program also offers three sponsorship levels for corporations or groups looking to enhance their community presence while supporting a meaningful cause. Those interested in volunteering can complete an application and sign up for orientation at **cravencountyhabitat.org**.
This initiative not only addresses vital housing needs but also fosters a sense of community among women, making it a unique opportunity for personal growth and social impact.
