The Spring-Ford Area School Board has elected Gabrielle “Abby” Deardorff as its new president and David Laky as vice president during its organizational meeting on December 1, 2023. The meeting marked a significant transition in leadership, welcoming newly elected member Rachael Yudt while also acknowledging the contributions of returning board members.

In addition to the new leadership roles, the board reaffirmed the roles of members Heidi Goldsmith, Erica Hermans, and Karen Weingarten, who will continue to serve on the Joint Operating Committee for the Western Montgomery Career and Technical Center. Their ongoing participation highlights the board’s commitment to vocational education and collaboration with local technical institutions.

Goldsmith was reelected for a second term as the board representative on the Montgomery County School Directors Legislative Committee, emphasizing the board’s focus on legislative matters that affect education in the region. Meanwhile, Laky will maintain his role as the board’s representative to the Spring City American Legion, further strengthening community ties.

The board also confirmed that Goldsmith will represent Spring-Ford as a liaison for the Pennsylvania School Board Association, a role essential for sharing best practices and advocating for educational policies at the state level.

Looking ahead, the board approved the schedule of meeting dates for 2026. During the upcoming year, members will review the current assignments for various committees, including Community Relations, Curriculum & Technology, Extra-Curricular, Finance, Personnel, Property, and Policy. Any changes to these assignments will be announced in early 2026.

The recent elections and appointments reflect a dedicated approach to governance within the Spring-Ford Area School District. As the board moves forward, its leadership aims to foster collaboration, community engagement, and a commitment to educational excellence.
